Details

In an era of greater public hostility, as well as mis and disinformation, it has never been more important for municipal staff to have effective communication skills. Staff are often first on the front lines when managing a municipality’s media and public relations. AMANS has engaged Redbrick Communications to provide a two-day workshop that will provide you with practical tips and helpful approaches to public communications that you can use everyday.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this workshop, you will have learned simple and practical approaches that you can apply to daily communications challenges. It will help you manage responsibilities related to:

  • Communicating complexity in plain language
  • Issue identification and management
  • Media relations and media interviews
  • Social media planning, use and moderation
  • Visual communication (using images, videos, graphics)
  • Council presentations
  • Working with elected officials
  • Public meetings
