January 18-19, 2018 - Financial Management 2 for Municipal Managers - Policies, Processes and Internal Controls

This financial management module is designed to help build awareness on administrative procedures, the materials necessary to support decision-making, and the tax sale process. This module will improve your understanding of internal control systems, policies, processes and contract negotiation. In this module you will learn how to:

  • design, implement and monitor internal control systems
  • develop administrative policies and procedures
  • communicate financial information to Council to support decision-making 
  • negotiate contracts with various skills and strategies
  • administer the tax sale process

Our workshop will be held at the Public Archives Nova Scotia - 6016 University Ave, Halifax NS. Parking is available at the IWK for individuals travelling back and forth. For individuals staying, the Public Archives is a short 10 minute walk from the Lord Nelson hotel. This module will be facilitated by Mike Dolter, CAO for Town of Truro and Cathie Osborne, CAO for West Hants. Mike is currently the Vice President for the Association and has over 30 years of financial experience and over 10 years in municipal experience. Cathie Osborne, is a past-president of AMANS and has over 30 years of municipal finance experience and was the Deputy Auditor General for HRM. Both Mike and Cathie are Certified Professional Accounts.
