COLOURS OF CHANGE: LETTING GO OF THE STATUS QUO
A Word on Change and Innovation
If ever local government needed to be daring and innovative, it’s now. Without a mindset that prizes innovation, it will be next to impossible to address the daunting issues facing local government today. Municipal Administrators need to embrace innovation as a necessary discipline, much like strategic planning and budgeting. Before we can change, we must want to change, or at least accept that we must change. And somewhere in there, we must let go of some part of what is now in place — the status quo. Organizational change necessarily entails letting go of parts of the status quo. Even when no existing processes are affected, we must let go of the belief that the status quo was ideal.
The 2011 AMA Fall Conference is taking place at the Inverary Resort in Baddeck, Cape Breton. Click here for more information on booking your accommodations for the conference.
